East Van's Coffee of Choice

At Commercial Drive Coffee Co., we're all about bringing coffee, culture and people together. 

In early 2010, a few of us got together and decided that we weren’t satisfied with where the coffee scene in Vancouver was headed. While major multi-national corporations flooded the market with over roasted coffees, local roasters pushed back with third-wave roasts - fruity and acidic. Neither approaches appealed to us much.

We wanted to get back to the feelings and flavours we discovered touring across Europe. We seek to recreate the smooth, earthy aromas that invitingly wafted throughout the coffee bars and homes. These are the flavours that you would have found on Commercial Drive when the first European immigrants, mostly Italian, settled in Vancouver's Little Italy in the heart of East Van. They brought with them coffee that inspired the discussions for change and betterment of people, coffee that elicited debates in homes that could be heard down the street, coffee that brought us together after a wonderful meal. We wanted a coffee that rekindled those warm feelings of family and connection.

Through a cooperative effort of local roasters and resident connoisseurs, our goal is to bring us back in time and to bring a little of the old school Commercial Drive back home with you.
